Some people have reservations about collectors appearing without warning at their door. Are they genuine ? Is this 'Conscience Money' ? How much of what is given actually reaches the intended recipient ?
A new twist is appearing in the south and will undoubtedly reach the north before long. Instead of money, the collectors suggest completing a direct debit form. This can mean an annual deduction ad infinitum, but, more seriously, it means that you are giving your bank details to someone you don't even know !

GAS BOTTLES

Recently, an anonymous WHITE VAN has been seen in country districts of Grampian, driving into farmyards and hanging around.

Subsequently, propane gas bottles disappear.

If you see a suspicious WHITE VAN around, phone 0854 600 5 700 and warn neighbouring properties.

NEW SNEAK-IN PHENOMENON IN GRAMPIAN

In various parts of Grampian, youngsters are being egged on by older ones to go round in gangs trying front doors. This takes place in the early hours of the morning ! Many of the youngsters appear to have been drinking or taking drugs.

If someone forgets to lock the front door, expect a good rummaging for cash or easily removed items.

The parents of the children involved may not realise what is going on. To find out can be extremely distressing.

HOUSE ENTRY THROUGH A GARAGE

Where there is a connecting door between a garage and a house, the door should be kept locked. Up-and-over doors can be forced, but this can be prevented by fitting suitable additional bolts.
